openSUSE Dumps MySQL Makes MariaDB Default Database Posted: 25 Jan 2013 05:39 AM PST The Fedora team earlier announced that they would be ditching the 'troubled' MySQL and move to MariaDB which was created by the founders of MySQL and is fully compatible with the database. A discussion was going on in the openSUSE teams about the default database. |
Linux Kernel Developer Alan Cox Retires Posted: 25 Jan 2013 05:10 AM PST Alan Cox, the long time Linux Kernel developer has eventually called it a day by resigning from his position at Intel and bidding goodbye to the Linux world. Cox has been one of the 'oldest' (not in terms of age, but involvement with Linux) members of the Linux developer team. Last year during LinuxCon when systemd maintainer Lennart Poettering asked during a panel discussion about the 'aging' current maintainers and getting 'fresh blood', Linus Torvalds joked, "we should probably retire Alan." |
